A losing discretionary trader.

I was not always a successful system trader. Back in 2007 I would lose my emotions and make stupid, stupid decisions. I deviated from my trading plan and took trades that I should not have. A string of losing trades would so enrage me that I would open “revenge” trades in an attempt to earn back the money I lost. I rarely worked and my account suffered. Those months were miserable.

The Computer Could Replace Me
It was around this time I discovered the concept of having a computer trade my trades. So, I learned Easylangage and started to build trading systems.

It was a little rocky at first as I discovered what overfitting was and learning the nuances of my trading platform. I made many mistakes but I learned from them. I started to record what worked and what didn’t. I started to record the steps I took that worked. Within a year’s time, I had a solid understanding of the computer language, my platform, and the development process.

Soon I had a profitable system!
