Component Blending is an online course where you’ll dive deep into the chemistry and therapeutic properties of 15 different pine, spruce and fir essential oils. You’ll learn to differentiate between a group of oils that seem similar - yet have many unique properties. And you’ll practice a fabulous approach to blending essential oils, known as component blending.

Upon completion of this class, you’ll have an advanced knowledge of the components in conifer essential oils, and confidence in choosing between similar oils (conifer or otherwise) to create more effective medicinal blends.

This Program Will Build Your Confidence To…
  • Differentiate between 15 different conifer oils (and their therapeutic properties), so you can confidently choose which ones to use for each blend or situation.
  • Deepen your knowledge of pine, spruce and fir essential oil chemistry - so that creating blends based on their chemical components comes easily. (Don’t worry, we’ll make it FUN!)
  • Come up with your own substitutions for any recipe! Once you learn this essential oil chemistry, you’ll never need to ask someone to help you with oil substitutes again.
  • Use GC/MS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry) reports to understand the potential safety considerations and some key medicinal properties of each oil.
  • Emphasize different therapeutic properties in your blends by using TWO advanced blending techniques - single component blending and multiple component blending.

Meet Your Instructor

Andrea Butje - Online Component Blending

Your video lessons and program content will be led by Andrea Butje, an internationally-recognized Aromatherapist who is changing the educational paradigm through her inspired approach to teaching + creating community online.

Andrea founded Aromahead Institute in 1998 to help people everywhere learn to use essential oils safely and effectively. Thousands of students from more than 180 countries have studied with Aromahead since that time - and many of our alumni have gone on to pursue successful careers and businesses in Aromatherapy and the Healing Arts.

In 2013, Andrea won the Alliance of International Aromatherapists’ Lifetime Achievement Award for her heartfelt work in educating and connecting people involved in all aspects of the Aromatherapy industry - from renowned authors and distillers to those who are brand new to essential oils.
